The Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is like an outdoor museum providing many opportunities to explore nature.

Located in the Bhandara district and Gondia district of Maharashtra, this place is apt for wildlife and nature lovers for it is locked in the arms of nature.

The forests in the vicinity of Bhandara were ruled by Gond Kings. In 1970, a part of these forests(45.00 sq mi) was declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary, and in 2012 the state government merged it with another national park to helm the Tiger project.

From biodiversity conservation point of view, this place is of great importance for it houses about 34 species of mammals, 166 species of birds, 36 reptile and 4 amphibian species.

Wildlife includes tigers, sloth bears, wild boars, nilgai, chital, wild dog and mouse deer. Panthers and an elephant also find a home in the sanctuary. You can enroll the sanctuary’s safari service that takes you to certain areas deep in the lap of nature.

If you are lucky, you will spot some tigers or other animals. If you want to spend a night near the sanctuary, make use of cottage service for accommodation so you can enjoy a stay at the park itself.
