Neelkanth Mahadev Temple Travel Guide

Located on a hill above Swarg ashram at an altitude of 925 mts, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered to be an apt example of complete natural hill heaven that lies adjacent to mountain ranges of the Nar-Narayan. According to myth, the Temple is the sacred location where Lord Shiva consumed that venom from ocean and thus the name Neelkanth(the god with a blue throat) was given to him. The 12-km stretch from Swarg Ashram to the Temple is also an ideal place for trekkers. Along with god’s blessings one can also enjoy its picturesque site encircled by valleys, mountains, forests and rivers.
