The palace of queen Padmini, a legendary beauty is built beside the lotus pool with a pavilion that changed the history of Chittor. It was here that Alauddin Khilji, the Sultan of Delhi,  glimpsed her reflection and was so mesmerized by her beauty, that his quest of possessing her led to a bloody battle which saw her husband Rana Ratan Singh fighting the last battle of his life and Padmini committing jauhar.
