Mussoorie

Attributed to a derivation of ‘mansoor’, a shrub indigenous to the area, the town is often referred to as ‘Mansoori’. Also known as the Queen of the Hills, it is a cool summer retreat situated at the foothills of the Himalayas. History of the town dates back to 1825 when a shooting lodge was constructed by Captain Young (British Military officer) and Mr Shore (Superintendent of Revenues at Dehradun). Famous for its scenic beauty, the town is an important center of education and business.
