Ambala Travel and Tourism Guide

It is believed that the city was founded by Amba Rajput during 14th century AD. Various versions exist behind its name. According to myths, the city got its name after Goddess “Bhawani Amba” whose temple exists here. It is also believed that the name is a corruption of Amba Wala (mango village) that existed in its neighborhood. The Ambala cantonment was established in 1843.
